types of sentences

There are four types of sentences based on their function and structure:

  1. Declarative Sentences: These sentences make a statement and end with a period. Example: "The sun is shining."
  2. Interrogative Sentences: These sentences ask a question and end with a question mark. Example: "Is the weather nice today?"
  3. Imperative Sentences: These sentences give a command or make a request. They often end with a period, but can end with an exclamation point for stronger emphasis. Example: "Please close the door."
  4. Exclamatory Sentences: These sentences express strong emotion and end with an exclamation point. Example: "What a beautiful day!"
